Workshop - APPLY NOW!


The GLEE team will be hosting a live in-person workshop where you will be able to work hands-on with your very own LunaSat! Guest presenters will also be attending to teach you all about the Artemis mission and what it takes to land on the Moon.

Step 1: Read through the timeline and requirements below to ensure you are available to attend and that you meet the requirements to apply.

Step 2: Have your team lead fill out the GLEE Application Form to apply for a spot in our workshop!

Step 3: Have your team mentor fill out the Mentor Acknowledgement Form to apply for a spot in our workshop!

Step 4: Wait to hear back in September if your team qualified to come!

Timeline & Requirements

In-Person Workshop Timeline:

  • July 28: GLEE interest form opens

  • August 24: Registration application opens

  • September 13: Registration application closes

  • September 17: Teams will be notified if they have been chosen to attend

  • October 21: Start of workshop

  • October 24: End of Workshop

Requirements to be Involved:

  • 18 years or older

  • Undergraduate students enrolled at a two- or four-year institution

  • Responsible for traveling and paying expenses to travel to and from Boulder, CO and to the workshop from their hotel in Boulder

  • Teams no larger than 3 people / Individuals

  • Identify a team lead

  • Identify and commit to having a mentor for the team from your institution (i.e. faculty, professor, etc.)

This event will be held October 22-24 and is FREE to all participants not including travel.

GLEE Modules

In this live workshop, we are going to be walking through 10 modules that go through the different capabilities of the LunaSat. The modules that will be presented are listed below.

  1. Understanding Your LunaSat

  2. Introduction to Arduino

  3. Solar Panels and Power Management

  4. Temperature Sensor

  5. Accelerometer Sensor

  6. Magnetometer Sensor

  7. Capacitive Sensor

  8. Thermopile Sensor

  9. Radio Frequency System

  10. Final Simulation Testing

Can't come to Boulder? That's okay because GLEE will also be shipping 350 LunaSat kits across the US for teams to participate in our remote workshop!

Teams will be able to work through the same 10 hands-on modules learning about the science sensors onboard and the functionality of the LunaSat.

Additional online support from our GLEE team will be available for teams under the teams part of the website.

LunaSat kit

Each participating team will receive a LunaSat kit with all the required materials including:

  • 2 LunaSats

  • 2 FTDI chips

  • Connection Wires

  • USB Cables

  • All Activity Materials
